Ideas have been realized, local communities enriched, lessons learned and experience gained. Before we embark on a new adventure (you'll have to be just a bit more open until the application deadline for the 2018 edition opens), let's have a quick review of this year's performance. We don't want to keep the reports and the pride for ourselves, so here are some excerpts from the participants' reports.
ZORAN FIJAVŽ - RAINBOW RHETORIC
(Participating organization: Društvo Škuc)
To create a more sustainable space where rhetorical skills of LGBTQI+ persons could be cultivated, 5 workshops were implemented. The biggest discovery were the challenges connected to promotional activities and how dependent these were on me as a person who already implemented similar activities.
MAŠA CVAR - "WHAT MAKES ME HAPPY?" GAME
(Participating organization: Društvo Škuc)
The idea was to get to know oneself better, to discover what makes us happy and at the same time offer youth organizations with another versatile tool they can use in their activities. The process led us from researching board games through choosing the appropriate format and producing the cards themselves. The biggest realization was that youth centers in Ljubljana were excited to take part, which made us really happy.
TARA DURALIJA FOR THE KBT TEAM - LET'S COMMUNICATE WITHOUT KEYBOARDS
(Participating organization: Združenje DrogArt)
The project is a funny, expertise-based series of campaigns about our addiction to mobile phones. We organized mobile phones wrapping at universities; detox challenges; 4 workshops; and an online campaign on alternative ways of spending free time. A high school pupil managed to not use his phone for 2 weeks, which we consider a great success.
STAŠ KRAMAR - BASEMENT STUDIO
(Participating organization: Javni zavod Mladi zmaji)
Within this project we created a new sound isolation for Basement studio to improve the quality of recordings made by young people by removing outside noises from them. The biggest observation is just how devoted people were to this project, and how much everyone learned both about the correlation between space and sound, and how to manually create the appropriate equipment.
DAVID VELKOVSKI - STREET FOOTBALL SLOVENIA
(Participating organization: Javni zavod Mladi zmaji and Zavod BoB)
Street football is different and creative, it connects generations, and it reminds us to have fun instead of always competing with others. We created the play area, gathered a team of enthusiasts and regularly practiced, conducted promotional activities and finally organized a street football tournament. The biggest discovery was just how much passers by enjoyed the game.
DOROTEJA MESARIČ - SPORTS THROUGH PLAY
(Participating organization: Javni zavod Mladi zmaji and TiPovej!)
The original idea was to create a series of sports workshops for local youth which would be carried out once a week, playing different sports with different mentors each time. Due to low turnout I had to adapt the idea significantly and I was joined by 2 more volunteers. The three of us ended up implementing 10 workshops. The biggest realization was that I need to be more persistent as projects don't always go as planned, and that having people work with you helps a great deal.
LANA URBANČIČ RAK - THE LEGEND ABOUT THE DRAGON AND THE TARRAGON
I wanted to find out which dish or ingredient was as symbolic for Ljubljana as kremšnita is for Bled - that is how I found tarragon and started thinking how to connect it to the dragons. By adding a unique ingredient to Ljubljana's culinary scene, the aim is to promote the city in a unique way. The project is still being implemented.
