Youth work is a voluntary and purposeful activity of a young person in their free time and is connected to an environment outside family, formal education or employment.
This rather dull definition hides a wide range of activities which enable a wholesome development of an individual, allows them to occasionally make mistakes, and offers them a first hand feel of democracy.
This workshop with occasional lecturing inputs will begin at 10 am and finish at 2 pm. It will focus on:
- what is youth work;
- what is NOT youth work, but is nonetheless present in youth organizations;
- why youth work - how does it differ from everything else;
- subjects in youth sector/field and differences among them;
- quality criteria in youth work;
- national vocational qualification youth worker - why the existing criteria and where does it come from.
The workshop will be held by Matej Cepin, an experienced youth worker.
