Let’s perform it with Socrates - International training for democratic citizenship

The training will be inspired by live and work of Socrates, Greek philosopher of Athens. He championed for the reasoned, independent, critical thinking.

On the training we will:

  • Foster greater understanding of notion and principles of Democracy.
  • Developing "inner democratic estimation scale" that will participants to estimate different phenomenon in political and everyday life.
  • Provide techniques and skills necessary for implementing Performance, as tool to deal with important issues for young people in targeted countries.
  • Provide techniques necessary for transposition of impressions and knowledge (about democratic "challenges" for youth) into Performance.
  • Train participants to create a performances suited for a particular community's interests and concerns designed to reflect on possibilities for constructive social change.
  • Train participants how to apply these performance skills for social dialogue on in the street, in a subway etc.
  • Promote participation of youth as a model for local actions in targeted countries.
  • Explore position of challenges for democracy in Serbia, Ireland, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slovenia, Romania, Italy and FYROM.
  • Develop draft version of performances that can be implemented in targeted countries.

First part of the training will challenged lot of “statements” that we had about society, democracy, human rights... and tried to foster participants to develop their own "inner democratic estimation scale" that will help them to estimate different phenomenon in political and everyday life.

Second part will be dedicated to developing some basic knowledge about performance. This part of training will offer to participants some skills on how to use the performances as the tool in fostering some questions dealing with democracy.
