The project aims to reduce youth unemployment and address the lack of supporting infrastructure during their most difficult transition – from the education to the production system. The unemployment level for the young aged 16 to 24 in the 27 EU member states is twice as high as the average unemployment level. Slovenia has the largest number of temporary employment contracts in the EU 27 for the young aged 15 to 24. The situation for the Slovenian youth is to a large extent determined by a combination of strong family support and a long period spent in the formal education system, compounded by the extremely uncertain labour market. Only 48% of those aged 29 have found regular employment and the number of unemployed university graduates is on the rise.
The project wants to encourage the young to start thinking about job opportunities in the future and what they want to become. We will present the current situation for the youth in Slovenia and Europe and the newest labour market data. We will also provide key competencies for lifelong learning, necessary for a successful independent life to help them achieve their dreams and successfully integrate in the society.
The workshop will teach the participants the “fast food” brainstorming technique on the topic of shaping new jobs. They will be thinking under guidance how to prepare well for their entrance to the job market. They will learn to use the “Lion’s Leap” web-based aid tool to help them find their dream job, because the young frequently do not know exactly what they want in the future. We will present the functioning of NGOs in Ljubljana – the L'mit network as a source of information, Nefiks as the index of informal education, and local youth clubs as areas for spending quality free time. The young will think about and draft their references to aid them in preparing their job bids.
The workshops will be carried out at secondary schools, dorms and the Student Arena – an educational and fair event at the Gospodarsko razstavišče exhibition and convention centre in Ljubljana.
