Empowering Youth Workers: Highlights from the Learning to Learn Training in Ljubljana

On January 29th and 30th, Learning to Learn workshop training took place in Ljubljana, bringing together youth workers from all over Europe. Despite the cold weather, their enthusiasm to enhance their skills in self-directed learning, problem-solving, and interpersonal growth warmed up the room.

The training was a opportunity for youth workers to dive into hands-on workshops, where they explored:

  • Learning Methodologies: Techniques to inspire self-directed learning and foster independent thinking in young people.

  • Digital Tools: Strategies for effectively integrating digital tools into youth work, enhancing engagement and accessibility.

  • Community Building: Methods for establishing rituals that cultivate a sense of belonging, trust, and peer support—essential components for a healthy social network.

One participant shared: “This workshop taught me where I need to improve, but also when I should take charge.” It was clear that these youth workers didn’t just leave with new skills, but with new tools and approaches to support young people in their communities.

This event is part of the #ConnectEd project, co-funded by the European Union. It’s a collaborative effort involving partners from TiPovej! (Slovenia), BACKSLASH (Spain), Libero (Serbia), and Connect International (Belgium). Together, we are analyzing best practices in youth work, ensuring they meet the needs of young people and create sustainable, inclusive, and effective learning environments.
