Training for Youth Career Counselors – A Space for Developing Competences and Supporting Young People

The training program for youth career counselors, organized by the KROJ Network, represents one of the key initiatives for strengthening the quality of youth work in the field of career guidance. The program is implemented regularly and each year brings together youth workers, educators, and other professionals who wish to systematically integrate career-related content into their work.

The training focuses on content that enables participants to gain a comprehensive understanding of career guidance and its role in youth work. The program includes the basics of psychological counseling, an introduction to career guidance, communication and coaching approaches, innovative working methods, and ways to meaningfully integrate career guidance into the regular work of organizations. Special attention is also given to future competences and the use of artificial intelligence, allowing participants to stay in touch with current trends and tools in the field.

The training is based on interactive non-formal learning methods such as group work, role-playing, reflection, and the use of educational tools – including the game Where to now?, developed within the KROJ Network. This approach allows participants to directly connect new knowledge with their own practice and adapt it to the needs of the young people they work with.

One of the key strengths of the program is its practical orientation. Participants gain concrete tools, methods, and approaches that help them to:

  • identify young people’s competences, interests, and potential,
  • plan career-related activities within their organization,
  • connect youth work with education and the labor market,
  • empower young people in making career decisions.

After completing the training, participants can also join a pool of youth career counselors, where they continue exchanging good practices, engaging in further training, and participating in programs such as the career chat room.

An important aspect of the program’s quality is ensured by its professional delivery. One of the main trainers is Urška Česnik, MSc in Psychology, who, together with a team of experienced professionals, brings in-depth knowledge, years of practical experience, and a strong understanding of the needs of the youth sector.

The training thus represents an important opportunity for anyone who wants to enhance their work with young people, strengthen their professional expertise, and become an active co-creator of an environment in which young people can more easily recognize their potential and shape their career paths.
